ANNOUNCEMENT
Association of the Universities of the Caspian Region Countries holds the First International Contest on Chemistry for the students of the Association of the Universities of the Caspian Region Countries, which will take place in Astrakhan State Technical University in April 18-21, 2006.

Every university has a right to direct at the contest 2-3 students and the supervisor – member of jury.
The university organizes the meeting of the participants at the airport and at the railway station.
APPROXIMATE PROGRAMME OF THE CONTEST
April 18, - arrival and accomadation of the participants, excursions (the city of Astrakhan, museums)
April 19, - Opening of Contest, contest- (at the reading hall of the main building of ASTU, app.319), presentation of research-and-development plant of ASTU, analysis of tasks
April 20, - Totals and Closing of Contest (It will take place during the excurison downstream the Volga), departure of the participants.

REGULATIONS OF THE CONTEST
The First International Contest on Chemistry for Students
of the Association of the State Universities of the Caspian Region Countries
Orginizer of the contest -ASTU- undertakes the obligations on financial provision of the participants.
Information on the contest ant its totals willbe placed on the site of ASTU http://www.astu.org and will be published in the journal “Vestnik of ASTU”.
The purpose of the contest is revealation of capable youth in the field of chemistry and further development of collaboration between the Universities of the Caspian Region Countries.
Suppeort of higher standards ant creation of common educational space in the countries-members of the Association.
Carrying out humanitarian misson and showing the principe –“Education without limits, Culture and Tradition of people enrich each other”
Main tasks of the contest are the following:
To give the possibility to the students-participants of the contest to show the knowledge, abilities, intuition and erudition in chemistry, and knack to make logic conclusions and to use own knowledge, to master the material, which is out of the level of usual teaching in chemistry.
To reveal the universities and the teaching staff, which carries out the teaching of chemistry on a high methodic level, that is necessary to establish creative relations and to exchange of the experience.
Order of the contest conducting.
The base of the contest are the tasks, corresponding the requirements of academic programmes on general chemistry. The time to do tasks is 3 hours.
The tasks will be given to the students lot off.
It can be allowed to use calculator and tables, “Mendeleyev’s law”, “Solubility of acids, salts and bases into water”, “Series of standards electrode potential”, “Comparative electronegativity of atoms”.
Totals.
Summing up the totals of the contest will be carried out according to the establishing rules of the jury.
After prelemanary results have been announced, the students can show their works, in case of disagreement with the results, they can hand in a written application to the president of the jury.
After considerating of the appeals, the jury take final conclusion and direct it to approve by the Organazing Commettee.
The students and the teams chosen as winners will be awarded Diplomas of the I-III Degrees, the other students will win Diplomas.
